3LHD is an architectural practice focused on integrating various disciplines – architecture, urban planning, landscape, design and art.

Location Permit issued for the Reconstruction of the Kupari Dubrovnik Resort

The Ministry of Physical Planning, Construction, and State Assets has issued a location permit for the reconstruction of the Kupari tourist complex. The Kupari tourist resort project is one of the most significant tourism infrastructure developments in Croatia. Given its location on the Dubrovnik Riviera, specifically in Župa Dubrovačka, which the Republic of Croatia strategically plans as a high-end tourism destination, this project is of great importance. The Kupari project will bring significant changes to this site, which has been neglected and deteriorating for years.
3LHD’s vision for Kupari aims to integrate the history and tradition of this location with contemporary design, creating a subtle dialogue between the past and the future. The architectural concept of the new hotel is inspired by the topographic contour lines of the terrain—the building’s volume follows the natural curve of the hillside, resulting in a fluid and unobtrusive form. The lower floors are designed and materialized in harmony with the rocky surroundings, allowing the new structure to blend naturally into the landscape. Villas and apartments will be integrated into the terrain with abundant greenery, interconnected by external staircases characteristic of the area, with access limited exclusively to pedestrians or electric vehicles.
At the heart of the complex, in accordance with conservation guidelines, the Grand Hotel will be renovated, maintaining its original exterior appearance while its interior will be adapted to new functions.

Keight Hotel in Opatija opened for public

Keight is the first Croatian hotel that will operate under the Hilton Curio Collection brand and also the first hotel under the Hilton brand designed by 3LHD. The investor is Katarina Line, the leading Croatian cruise company.
Project concept unites the best of the sea and the best of the land - inspired by long sea voyages, this contemporary hotel with a pleasant ambience evokes the feeling of returning home after a long journey. Keight is a tribute to Opatija's tourist heritage. It is located in the center of the city, close to the sea and historical buildings, which are reinterpreted with facade elements. The central point of the hotel is the restaurant on the ground floor, a meeting place for hotel guests and all residents of Opatija. Accommodation units with moody tones, the colors of the sky and the sea in a storm, draw the guest into a safe haven, protected from the forces of nature. The sun deck on the roof represents an escape into a dreamy world, a place for relaxed leisure time with a view of the sea. Read more on the LINK

Our office is located in the former Urania cinema.

Despite its age, the building had good predispositions to be adapted, converted and reused.

The new Urania houses public spaces for various cultural events and a couple of office spaces. A multipurpose hall equipped with multimedia and stands is connected to a café bar with a patio and a roof terrace. It is a point of social gathering and public activities, as well as a space for numerous events such as educational workshops, presentations, exhibitions, concerts, screenings and the like.

Urania - space of creation, is envisioned as a home for one’s creative expression, especially for the one who questions oneself, society, and the world.

As a space of creation, it considers all of the fields of art and the people who practice it whether they to accomplished or they still have to be so, the ones who are socially aware and the one’s developing audience awareness through education and the exchange of experience.
By interacting and connecting and encouraging education, communication, and innovation as fundamental principles in the process of creative creation, as well as encouraging interdisciplinary work and cooperation with related activities, the development of culture and artistic creation is achieved, connecting the community and activating social change.

Sustainability in our practice

Since the founding of 3LHD, the theme of sustainable construction and environmental care has been present through our earliest projects - whether it's the use of local materials in projects like Sports Hall Bale, introduction of greenery and passive temperature management in projects like the Campus Infobip, the Green Pavilion on the Forestry Faculty Campus, Grand Park Hotel Rovinj, or the exploration and implementation of biodiversity ideas in projects such as the Rimac Campus, Karlovac Freshwater Aquarium and River Museum.
We are committed to advancing sustainability in the context of the built environment, which is manifested through the design of energy-efficient, environmentally friendly, and sustainable architecture. Our office building and cultural space - Urania, is a striking example of the transformation of an existing building with the ability to adapt space for diverse use while reducing emissions, as well as aspects of cultural sustainability by activating users in the city center through the integration of various contents.

3LHD products were created as a response to the needs of specific architecture projects.

With their aesthetics and function, they emerge from the spaces they were initially created for, but eventually they separate from the project context and become independent products. These products confirm 3LHD's interdisciplinary approach by combining the knowledge of architects, designers and other creators from relevant fields.
