On Thursday, October 30, 2025, the 8th Central Conference on Sustainable Construction was held at the Sheraton Hotel in Zagreb, organized by the Croatian Green Building Council (GBC Croatia). As one of the most significant annual gatherings of professionals in the fields of sustainable construction, green economy, energy, and urbanism, the conference brought together over a thousand participants in person and an equal number online.
Marko Dabrović, partner at Studio 3LHD, had the honor of being one of the keynote speakers with a presentation titled “Sustainable Cities.” In his lecture, Dabrović explored key approaches that architecture, urban planning, and landscape design can offer in developing cities that are vibrant, adaptable, and resilient to the challenges of climate change. Through a series of practical examples, he emphasized the importance of integrating architecture, landscape, and urban planning in creating sustainable urban environments where people and the environment are at the center of spatial development.
The conference reaffirmed that sustainable construction is no longer a trend but a foundation of responsible practice. With nearly 40% of Europe’s total energy consumption and CO₂ emissions attributed to buildings, the construction sector plays a vital role in the green transition. Through panels on indoor environmental quality, cultural heritage restoration, green project financing, and climate adaptation, participants shared knowledge, innovations, and best practices.
By participating in this event, Studio 3LHD once again confirmed its commitment to an interdisciplinary approach in shaping sustainable urban environments. The studio continues to actively contribute to the dialogue on sustainability in architecture and urbanism, promoting interdisciplinarity as a key tool in designing the cities of the future.
