At the Varaždin County Palace, the Spatial and Programmatic Study for the development of the area along the Drava River was presented, prepared by 3LHD. The study focuses on an area of nearly 50 hectares in the northeastern part of the city – currently largely used for industrial purposes – which holds significant potential for urban transformation.
The proposal envisions the development of a new, green, and sustainable urban district, designed in accordance with the “15-minute city” concept. The plan includes a wide range of public facilities such as a school, kindergarten, health center, cultural institutions, a market, and a well-connected network of green and public spaces.
Marko Dabrović, while presenting the study, emphasized the importance of strategic urban planning and strengthening Varaždin’s relationship with the Drava River as a vital natural asset.
This study outlines a vision for a contemporary Varaždin – a city that evolves responsibly, thoughtfully, and in line with principles of sustainability.
